Paul Henry RobbGraduating 1993 from Ulster University in Belfast in 1993, he works as a graphic designer for various Belfast agencies, in 1996 he moved to London where he in communication design, branding, and multimedia, from 1996 to 1999 he was a designer the graphics for the ITV television channel Carlton where he specializes in broadcast design. Between 1999 and 2000 he worked for other television channels including B Sky B, Nickelodeon, and Discovery Channel.
In 2000 he moved to Perugia where, together with Moira Bartoloni, he founded the Salt & Pepper studio. Salt & Pepper is a multidisciplinary design studio with online and offline design skills. Expressiveness and authenticity are the basis of their work completed with a balanced fusion of creative design and technology. The studio creates experiences that capture and expand communicative perceptions. In the past 20 years, the studio has created and developed, integrated solutions, advertising campaigns, and branding for a variety of customers both in the public and private sectors, in Italy and abroad. They develop brand systems, brands, websites, apps for mobile and tablets, UI and UX interfaces, events, documentaries, viral films, digital installations, games, installations, communication for social media, and advertising. In 2013, 2015, and 2020 their projects were included in the ADI Design Index and selected for the Compasso d’Oro three times. In 2019 their work was nominated for the Designer of the Year by the IAD (International Association of Designers) and won a Gold award in A’Design Awards and won a Gold and the Sustainable Graphic Design Award from the Novum Design Awards. Paul Robb teaches Graphic design at the University of Perugia and Design at the Accademia in Perugia. by Light Luce Typographic Book by Paul Robb After the devastating earthquake of 2016, the Umbria Region of Italy required a reposition of its communications. This catalog is that journey displaying the cultural riches of unknown areas of the territory. Each of the section index pages was designed focusing on communicating that storytelling. Although mainly a photography journey of light and unseen culture, the textual part of the catalog has been treated to balance the visual story. Monk Font Typeface Design by Paul Robb Monk seeks a balance between the openness and legibility of humanist sans serifs and a more regularized character of the square sans serif. Although originally designed as a Latin typeface it was decided early on that it needed a wider dialogue to include an Arabic version. Both Latin and Arabic design us the same rationale and the idea of shared geometry. The strength of the parallel design process allows the two languages to have balanced harmony and grace. Both Arabic and Latin work seamlessly together having shared counters, stem thickness, and curved forms. Branding Accademia of Perugia Brand System and Campaign by Paul Robb The Accademia of Perugia, needed a new visual identity to reflect the institution's desire to move quickly into the future. S&P worked with ABA's staff and students to involve different departments and aspects of the Academy. Designers' challenge was to create a unified kinetic brand identity and architecture that also gave individuality to the single courses. They created an energetic, robust, and positive identity system that works across the different arts avoiding the typical clichés and conventions. Brand design s6 Foundry Brand System and Campaign by Paul Robb The S6 Foundry branding and its subsequent type specimen book were designed to create a joy of new typography, positioning the brand's visual language. A bright and cheerful palette of warm color and a distinctive and surprising form language captures the spirit, harking to traditional signwriting of the 1900 century fun fair. The designs were developed as a kaleidoscope of forms and elements to create the right visual consistency of the brands’ ethos and a new direction of commercial bespoke fonts. Lunema Specimen Typeface Book by Paul Robb Lunema is a highly stylized contemporary neo-grotesque sans serif typeface with strong geometric contrasts. A functional san serif family that can stand the test of time, whilst still feeling modern and unique. Each letter shape has been crafted with great attention to detail in order to ensure legibility at large and small sizes due to the distinct deep ink traps. All 10 weights have an extended Latin glyph set with alternatives and ligatures. SP Saffron Grotesk Type Specimen by Paul Robb Saffron is an elegant contemporary neo-grotesque sans-serif typeface with strong stylistic geometric contrasts, drawing on the aesthetics and the typographic standards of Swiss modernism. The distinctive wide-open stance was designed to give the right visual consistency for branding and communications. This authentic and original typeface represents a shifting contemporary aesthetics. The specimen is divided into sections, with ring binder posters inside the pack. Type Specimen Alskar Typeface by Paul Robb Alskar sans is an elegant contemporary wide sans serif typeface with strong stylistic geometric authentic contrasts, drawing on the aesthetics and representing the shifting contemporary aesthetics. The type specimen was printed as a newspaper A2 (folded and sent as A4) and presents the typeface with a modern feel and experience. Plasma SF Typeface Design by Paul Robb Plasma is a stylistic modular font developed to give freshness to graphic projects. The font includes diverse and versatile styles of an extensive character set with over 80 alternative glyphs allowing glyph mixing, griving the typeface a unique personality.
