Moriyuki Ochiai

We established his own studio, Moriyuki Ochiai Architects that is active in architectural, interior, furniture, landscape and industrial design.
The sources of our inspirations come from being captivated by the vivacious and lively beauty of nature or life.
We can also feel the influence coming from the delicate sensitivity responding to the unique Japanese nature, which can be found in Japanese temples and gardens.
We wish to continue creating works that fulfill people's dreams, become the energy for their lives, and then move on to a deeper dimension that exceeds life itself.

Restaurant by Moriyuki Ochiai Architects

Aluminum Flower Garden Restaurant by Moriyuki Ochiai Architects A restaurant/bar named FLOWER around the theme of flower. A sheet of aluminum spreads across the ceiling. Changes to the size and density of the flower petals impart the function and atmosphere suited to each area, such as lively and quiet areas created through minute differences in the height and expanse of a given space. One’s position and angle of vision as well as the reflection of images and lights from the mirrors on the walls concur to perpetually redefine the appearance of the whole space, thus enabling the viewer to experience space with transient and diverse atmospheres.

Nursery by Moriyuki Ochiai Architects

Daruma International Nursery by Moriyuki Ochiai Architects Moriyuki Ochiai Architects performed the design for a nursery school. Deliverables included an environment suitable to the school's educational policy, namely, bringing up children both physically and mentally that can think, learn and act on their own initiative. Thus, They set out to create a space that would promote a variety of uses and encourage children to come up with their own games as they would do in nature by recreating geographical features inspired by nature’s most beautiful assets; its colors and lakes.

Residential Building by Moriyuki Ochiai Architects

Geosong Residential Building by Moriyuki Ochiai Architects They performed the design for a residential building located in a hilly area. Thus, they set out to integrate into their design the structure of the earth while echoing the natural forces shaping the hills, strata-soil, and spring water found therein. Resonating with the landscape of rolling hills, this residential building channels and gives form to the natural energy embedded in the multiple layers of intertwined strata and springs surrounding it.

Beauty Salon by Moriyuki Ochiai Architects

Strata Springscape Beauty Salon by Moriyuki Ochiai Architects The Strata Springscape beauty salon is surrounded by a world of strata and springs. The entire space is embedded with elements inspired by strata, soil, springs, and water streams. Fragments of strata and spring motifs can be seen dancing on the ceiling next to floating fountain-like mirrors. The walls are finished with blue gradations that resemble water streams reflected in a fountain, and with a texture evocative of stone gravel in a geological formation. This creates an environment full of diverse rhythms of shadows and reflections, thereby magnifying the joy of those who pass through it.
